Last week, I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to play in the 1:1 CONCERTS© in Canberra! These are extraordinary miniature concerts that last only ten minutes, performed by one musician for one audience member. They are entirely non-verbal and start and end with intense eye contact between the two people. The choice of pieces I performed were spontaneous and based off my connection with the audience member through eye contact.
They are such special concerts and I would love to see more of them in the future! Originally designed as a way to invite people to make donations to freelance artist relief, I think they could be such an incredible concert experience. In fact, Adelaide Festival just recently took up that opportunity with the help of Sally Walker.
Special thank you to Zoë Loxley Slump and Sally Walker for inviting me to a part of this opportunity, and to Her Excellency Mrs Marion Derckx, the Dutch Ambassador to Australia, for opening up her beautiful home for these concerts to take place. Grateful!
